The switch statement in C# has always been frowned upon.
It always promoted the anemic domain design and excessive branching.
But the times have changed, and now we favor expressions more than imperative statements.
This switch statement calculates a string value.
It does not do anything, but it returns its result.
If you are among those fortunate C# programmers who favor expressions over imperative statements, then you will love the new switch expression.
Its head looks different, so the variable is named first, followed by the switch keyword.
Remove the noise by deleting case and break.
Colons become arrows, with each case evaluated into its right-hand expression.
Voila, you have a very condensed and highly readable expression that you can return or assign to a variable.

???? About Me ????
Hi, I’m Zoran, I have more than 20 years of experience as a software developer, architect, team lead, and more. I have been programming in C# since its inception in the early 2000s. Since 2017 I have started publishing professional video courses at Pluralsight and Udemy and by this point, there are over 100 hours of the highest-quality videos you can watch on those platforms. On my YouTube channel, you can find shorter video forms focused on clarifying practical issues in coding, design, and architecture of .NET applications.❤️
